An Australian brand-funded first story from inside the Japanese Keirin.

Web series and TV documentary

Ryokou follows the journey of Aussie Cyclist Shane Perkins from his home in Adelaide post London Olympics to taking residence in Japan whilst competing in the 2012/13 Keirin competition. Proudly supported by Onitsuka Tiger, the sports documentary explores Japanese Keirin cycling as a pivotal part of Shane’s personal and professional growth, in context of some of the major events in his professional and personal career.
Ryokou was made as a 5 part web series but it was first published as a half-hour documentary on SBS. We then partnered with Cycling Tips to help launch the series internationally before licensing it to Qantas for inflight entertainment. We also have to thank Jayco, Anna Meares and about 100 other legends who helped crowd fund on Pozible to make it possible.
