The first chapter of RYOKOU, our latest sports doco project, has dropped. After airing on SBS2 nationally on Sunday May 26th, the online release sees the program drop via youtube.com/chasingtheglory in 5 parts, over 5 days, Monday – Friday, at 12noon. Yep – perfect lunchtime procrastination. Get on it.

Tropical North Queensland’s latest saw 20 filmmakers hand selected from around Oz,  given GoPro’s, and flown up north – all to create their own version of ’1 Day in Paradise’…here’s ours. Yep, it’s a couch. In the rainforest.

Chasing the Glory media house in association with Projucer presents the official trailer and announces the digital release of our latest sports story: RYOKOU (Journey) – a five part web documentary published on YouTube and across all good cycling sites.

Ryokou follows the journey of Aussie Cyclist Shane Perkins from his home in Adelaide post London Olympics to taking residence in Japan whilst competing in the 2012/13 Keirin competition.

The sports documentary explores Japanese Keirin cycling as a pivotal part of Shane’s personal and professional growth, in context of some of the major events in his professional and personal career.

We don’t usually love ads. But when they’re good, they make us shiver. This is one of those. Well done Chris Malloy on this spot for Gerber Knives.

Shane Perkins is not a household name in Australia. But he has a story. He’s a cyclist. He’s a World Champion, has been the fastest man to sprint a bike around a 250m velodrome, and he’s a London Olympic bronze medallist eyeing Gold in Rio. Interestingly, he heads to Japan for 3-6 months a year to compete in the Keirin, an unlikely national sport. It’s too hard to explain. But he’s good at it.

We’ve been in Japan piecing together a videographic portayal of this journey. It’s called Ryokou, which means ‘journey’ in Japanese. Below is a pictorial work in progress:
